Hope joined Girls on the Run as a coach for the spring 2009 season. As the organization has grown, she has participated in various roles: assistant coach, head coach, site liaison, board member, program coordinator, and council director. She is married to her high school sweetheart and they have two children. “I love the mission of Girls on the Run. I wish this program was around when I was a young girl. Girls on the Run has changed my life and I feel truly blessed to be a part of such an amazing program.”

Katie enjoys being a teacher, an athlete, and a GOTR girl. She started coaching in the Spring of 2011 and fell in love with the program. She is passionate about encouraging girls to pursue their dreams and grow into healthy, confident, young women. GOTR has shown her to enjoy the most out of life and continue doing the things she loves including running, traveling, and spending time with family.

Jim is one of the original members of the advisory board that began meeting over eight years ago with the staff at Battle Creek Parks & Recreation to consider submitting an application to start a Girls on the Run Council in Battle Creek. Jim’s wife, Samantha, was one of the first GOTR coaches to be trained and Jim’s daughters, Emily and Hannah, were in the first group of GOTR girls at St. Joseph Elementary. They participated in the program from 3rd through 5th grades and are still active volunteers at the GOTR 5K event each spring. Jim is the Executive Director at Community Inclusive Recreation, an organization dedicated to providing art, recreation, and social opportunities for people with disabilities. He also serves as the cross country coach at St. Philip Catholic Central. He is proud to have played a role in the significant growth of the Girls on the Run of Calhoun County Council.

Karen joined Girls On the Run in 2009 and became a member of the Board in 2013.  . She became involved in GOTR because of the values and lessons that are taught in the program.  Karen believes that all girls can become a "Super GOTR Girl" if they believe that they can do anything they put their mind to.  In addition to GOTR, she raises a "super GOTR girl" of her own and a wonderful son.

Ryan Renner : Board Member

Board Member

Ryan is a teacher at Harper Creek High School and has been the boys and girls cross country coach there for 13 years.  He loves working with young distance runners and coaching them to be better athletes, competitors, and people.  He is new to Girls on the Run and hopes to help encourage the participants to stick with running as they enter middle and high school so they can develop into lifelong runners.
